Canoe Team Members cast 2010 Concrete Canoe Entry - Saturday, January 23rd

Members from the 2010 WMU Concrete Canoe team sat down with local LEED AP, Mr. Jason Novotny of Eckert-Wordell to discuss how to incorporate LEED initiatives and 'green' concepts into the construction of the 2010 canoe entry.

ASCE Student Services named the WMU ASCE Student Chapter to be the 2009 Most Improved Chapter. Along with this honor, WMU also received a Certificate of Commendation.

On Monday, November 9, Mike Vennix from Azon came and spoke to the student memebers about the International Concrete Repair Institute and the benefits of being a member of a professional organization. He also demonstrated some of the sealing products that are made by Azon.

On Thursday, November 5th, student members of WMU ASCE visited the Westendege/I-94 construction site with several engineers from the Michigan Department of Transportation. The construction on this interchange is expected to continue until 2011.

Western Michigan University Western Michigan University will host the 2010 North Central Regional Conference March 26-28, 2010. For more information please see our 2010 NCRC Page.
The Southwest MI Section and Student Chapter will hold two joint meetings this semester. Registration is reqired (just shoot us an email with you name and what day(s) you'll be attending).

The first meeting was held Thursday, October 29, 2009, at noon in D-109. MDOT gave a presentation about emergency shut downs of I-94.

The second meeting will be Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Noon (room TBD). This will be a round-table discussion where professional engineers will be talking about their careers. Lunch will be provided.
Concrete Canoe Team After the best year ever for the Concrete Canoe Team, the Team is back and ready to prove itself once again. The Team is looking for new people to get involved. No concrete experience it needed! Check out the Concrete Canoe Page to learn how to get involved.
Steel Bridge Team The Steel Bridge Team is back for their second year! The Team is looking to build on their successful completion last year's conference by involving new members. The Team is looking for people to help out with analysis, welding construction, etc. For more infomation, see the Steel Bridge Page.
